How Our Gears Are Made

How Our Gears Are Made

Gears can be manufactured by several different processes, such as forging, blanking, casting, powder metallurgy, and extrusion. However, machining is applied to achieve the final dimensions, shapes and surface finish in every gear.

Jinpu Mechanical has more than twenty years of industrial gear manufacturing experience. As a high quality power transmission parts manufacturer and supplier, we are fully equipped with the CNC turning, milling, broaching and grinding capacities. We deliver extraordinary capabilities to our valued customer base in the metal industry. From custom cutting to fresh improvements of your new product, we have the required production experience that your project requires.

The materials typically used to make gears in most cases depend on its use and running time. Gears can be manufactured from either metallic or non-metallic materials. Gears made from metal are generally obtained from many types of steel, cast iron, brass, bronze, ductile iron, aluminium, powdered metals, etc. The non-metallic gears are usually made out of plastic.  Steel is the most commonly used material for manufacturing gears. It offers high strength-to-weight ratio, high resistance to wear, the ability to enhance the physical properties through heat treatment, and last but not least, makes the prices highly competitive. Some of the most commonly used materials are 20MnCr5, SAE8620H, and EN353 (considered being the strongest). They are positioned according to their strength which is directly proportional to their cost.

As a professional gear manufacturer, we have adequate and modern state of the art in-house machines and tooling, with which we are more than capable of manufacturing gears and other machine parts of all shapes and sizes.
